How it works

• Enter the email address you used with us, and choose what you would like us to do.
• If we hold data for that address, we email it a link. Nothing changes until you press the button in that email. The link works once, for 48 hours.
• This page says the same thing whether or not we hold data for the address, so nobody can use it to find out who has written to us.
• Asking us to stop, never to contact you, to have a person review your application, to opt out of automated screening, or about keeping your details, takes effect within a few minutes of your confirming.
• A copy reaches you by email within a few minutes, as a download link that works for 7 days. We aim to finish an erasure or a correction within 7 days, and always within 30. We email you when an erasure is done, and a person on our team writes to you about a correction.
• If you cannot use email, write to us through our contact page and a person on our team will help. They check who you are first.

What erasing keeps, and why

Erasing removes your applications, the files you sent, our emails with you, our notes and any assessments. A few things stay, and the email we send lists them:

• A record of your request: its number, dates and status, so we can show we acted.
• Audit records, with your details removed.
• A record that a person was erased, with no name or contact details.
• If you also asked never to be contacted, a one-way code of your address, so we can keep that promise. It cannot be turned back into your address.
• If the law requires us to keep your records, for example as an employee, we keep them and tell you why.

Copies in our database backups expire within 30 days.
